China Wok — a neighborhood Chinese restaurant, rebuilt from the menu up

Chinese restaurant · takeout & delivery 🇺🇸 Franklin Park, New Jersey Summer 2026 · live in 4 days

A neighborhood favorite with a 4.2-star Google profile and 288 reviews was still living on a free POS-vendor template: two phone numbers in the hero, six identical 'Photo' placeholders and an order button that sent people to a third-party domain. We rebuilt it as a food-first ordering website in the restaurant's own brand, carried that brand into the Google profile, Instagram, the takeout bags and the print menu, and connected everything to one AI assistant that takes reservations and answers the menu.

BeforeAfter
Where it started

Every visitor met the same wall: a stock beef-and-broccoli photo, phone numbers in the middle of the screen, business hours as the main content, and no menu, no dish photos, no way to reserve. Peak-hour calls went to voicemail and Instagram messages stayed unread for days.

Showcase build. Ordering keeps running on the restaurant's existing POS link; dish names and prices are confirmed with the owner before launch. Automation flows are shown on the new website; volumes depend on the restaurant's hours and menu.

01 · AI Website

The website

A food-first ordering site in the restaurant's own red-and-ivory identity: the real menu with photos and favorites, best sellers, combination plates, reservations, reviews and directions, all one tap away on a phone.

  • Editorial design system derived from the approved Instagram identity: condensed display serif for cravings, Source Sans for prices and options, warm gold rules, a single steam motif
  • The full menu online for the first time — 268 dishes in 19 categories with photos, prices, dietary notes and a heart to save favorites, driven by one menu.json the restaurant can edit in minutes
  • Order online, call and directions one tap away on every screen; hours and delivery policies moved out of the hero into a 'Visit' section
  • Reserve-a-table and catering sections that feed the AI receptionist instead of a voicemail
  • Google reviews embedded with a direct 'write a review' button; Restaurant schema with hours, rating and address for rich results
  • Mobile-first: 390 px layouts, no horizontal scroll, images sized and lazy-loaded, visible focus states
Best sellers, photographed

Lo mein, beef & broccoli, dumplings and BBQ spare ribs on ivory cards with a heart to save favorites — the first thing a hungry visitor sees after the hero.

The full menu, finally online

Every category from the printed menu, priced and photographed where it matters, with 'choose options' for sizes and sides. One JSON file behind it, no developer needed to change a price.

Reserve a table

A short reservation form for dine-in and BYOB evenings. Requests land with the AI receptionist, which confirms by text and reminds guests the same morning.

288 Google reviews, working for the site

Real reviews pulled into the page with a one-tap 'write a review' button, so the 4.2 rating keeps growing instead of sitting on Maps.

02 · Brand & Design

Brand, print and packaging

The Instagram identity became a full design system, then walked out of the screen onto staff tees, takeout bags and boxes, chopstick sleeves, the round sign, the print menu and the thank-you card.

Design system

Wok red #CD0E11, warm ivory, ink and gold; display serif for headlines, sans for prices; the steam motif, icon set, food photography rules and the component kit the site is built from.

Brand in the real world

Wordmark, staff tees, takeout bag and box, chopstick sleeve, round signage, print menu, thank-you card, apron and stickers — one identity from screen to counter.

03 · Google Business Profile

Google Business Profile

Most customers meet the restaurant on Maps first. The listing went from a parking-lot photo to a branded cover with the team, the bags and the order button, matching what people then see on the website.

Before

What customers actually found on Maps: a parking-lot photo of the storefront as the cover, no menu link, no brand.

After

The new cover on the listing: the team at the door with branded bags, the 'Your next craving' line and the order button, matching the website and Instagram.

The cover creative

Landscape hero for Google and Facebook: two team members at the storefront, takeout carton and dumplings, website and address in the brand type.

04 · Instagram

Instagram

A launch grid that makes people hungry and tells them what to do next: alternate food close-ups with red typographic posts, seven highlight covers for menu, favorites, order, reviews, visit, our place and team.

Instagram grid concept

Profile, seven highlight covers and a 12-post launch feed: 'Your next craving', 'Find your favorite', 'Dinner starts here', 'Read our Google reviews', 'Find us in Franklin Park'.

05 · AI Automations

AI automations

Two phone lines, one counter and a wok going all evening: nobody has hands free to answer 'do you have anything gluten-free?' or take a Friday reservation. One AI assistant now answers in the restaurant's voice across phone, website, Google and Instagram.

  • AI receptionist on both phone lines: answers in English (Mandarin on request), takes reservations and pickup orders, texts a confirmation, hands off to a person the moment someone asks
  • Menu concierge on the website and in Instagram DMs: ingredients, spice level, allergens, portion sizes, what goes with the ribs — trained on the same menu.json as the site
  • Missed-call text-back in 12 seconds with the menu link and the order button
  • Reservation flow from the website form: capacity rules, party size, BYOB note, reminder the morning of, no-show follow-up
  • Review engine: 40 minutes after a pickup a text asks for a Google review with the direct link; unhappy replies go to the owner first, never to Google
  • Catering qualifier: date, headcount, dietary needs and budget collected on the spot, quote draft sent to the owner
Reservations that book themselves

The form on the site is the front door: the AI checks capacity, confirms by text and reminds guests the same morning. Phone reservations follow the same rules, so the paper pad is gone.

Menu concierge

The assistant knows every item, price and ingredient on this page. Ask 'spicy but no peanuts' in the site chat or an Instagram DM and it suggests three dishes with an order link.

Review engine

After a pickup, a short text asks for a Google review and drops the guest straight on the review form. Negative replies are routed to the owner, never published.

Catering requests, qualified

Date, headcount, dietary needs and budget collected in one conversation; the owner receives a ready-to-send quote instead of a missed call.

Zum Straubinger — a Munich Wirtshaus with a brand as warm as its beer garden

A 4.4-star institution near the Viktualienmarkt was hiding behind a cartoon logo, an orange WordPress bar and a wall of text. We gave it a forest-green identity, a site that leads with schnitzel and a reservation, and the same face on Google Maps, Instagram, the menu and the staff tees.

PoolZenia Ottawa — pool care that finally looks like peace of mind

A franchise pool-care company with a 4.8-star Ottawa location and a website that greeted homeowners with a popup and a postal-code box. We built a navy-and-aqua identity around 'Peace of Mind Pool Care', a calm, editorial Ottawa homepage that leads with 'Just swim', a concierge that books the first visit in two minutes, and carried the brand onto the Google cover, the van and an Instagram grid for every season.

GS Construction — a renovation contractor with a brand you can spot from the driveway

A five-star renovation crew with a good logo and a website that said everything and asked for nothing. We turned the yellow-and-black mark into a full identity, rebuilt the site around one action — get a free estimate — and put a working estimate assistant on it that qualifies the project and books the visit.
